Since being appointed as the new manager of England back on May of 2012, things have not been going well Roy Hodgson and for the English national football team as the squad have consistently been suffering shock defeats and being knocked out from international competitions.

During the 2014 FIFA World Cup, England failed to make it past the group D as they finished at the bottom after losing against: Italy and Uruguay while only managing to claim a draw when facing off with Costa Rica.

2 years later and England lost against Iceland in the Round of 16 during the UEFA Euro’s of 2016. This was a hugely disappointing result for an English team that had renowned players such as: Daniel Sturridge, Wayne Rooney, Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling just to name a few of them.

The captain of Manchester United and of the England national football team Wayne Rooney has recently voiced his thoughts in relation to Roy Hodgson’s tactics that he has been using in the latest international competitions.
Wayne Rooney was particularly concerned about England’s match against Slovakia in the 2016 Euro’s which concluded in a goal-less draw. In this match, Roy Hodgson decided to put his main stars on the sidelines including: Harry Kane and Wayne Rooney. Both Kane and Rooney entered the pitch in the 2nd half but they failed to make any difference upon the final scoreboard.

The English attacker did not agree with Roy Hodgson’s decision to drop a lot of the main players and he recently made his voice be heard as Rooney said:
“If you leave the tournament playing your best, beaten by a better team, I accept that. But we didn’t play. It was Roy’s decision to make those changes against Slovakia.

No, I wouldn’t have rested six players;It’s more than half the team. It was a gamble and it didn’t pay off.When I came on against Slovakia it was difficult to change the game, impossible really. I was running around just trying to get the energy back into the team’’
