Rooney will continue serving as captain of England and Manchester United
Wayne Rooney is a player that in the past few weeks has been in the spotlight more than usual as the Manchester United player was spotted at The Grove hotel in Hertfordshire late at night drinking and Rooney even made an unscheduled appearance at a wedding reception.
Pictures were leaked where Rooney was seen doing inappropriate things with the wedding guests where he was not even believed to be invited to. All of this occurred during an international break at the team hotel of England which was The Grove hotel.
The representatives of Wayne Rooney responded to all of these recent issues as they released a statement which read:
‘’Naturally Wayne is sorry that pictures taken with fans have been published today. Although it was a day off for the whole squad and staff, he fully recognizes that the images are inappropriate for someone in his position.Earlier today Wayne spoke privately to both interim manager Gareth Southgate and technical director Dan Ashworth to unreservedly apologize. He would like to further extend that apology to any young fans that have seen these pictures’’
As the captain of not only Manchester United but also of the England national football team, Wayne Rooney has added pressure of having to perform well not only in the pitch but outside of it as well and this is one of the main reasons of why the media has been putting him on the spotlight so much in the past few weeks.
Luckily for Wayne Rooney, it has recently been confirmed by the football association that he will not be severely punished as Rooney will not be stripped away from his captaincy roles in neither Manchester United nor the England national football team.
After the pictures of Wayne Rooney appearing to be drinking were leaked, investigations were done by the FA and this research which was done has favored Rooney as he is not expected to face any disciplinary action from these recent incidents that have occurred during his international break.
