Even though Wayne Rooney did not have the best of seasons, the contributions and performances that he did manage to pull out was enough for him to be voted as England’s Player of the Year for the 4th consecutive year.

Wayne Rooney had a very mixed 2015 as he made a number of impressive performances for his country England as he managed to score his 51th goal at the international stage and broke the previous record of 49 goals which was held by Bobby Charloton of most goals scored for the England national team.

The 30 year old attacker also captained Roy Hodgson’s men to European Championship qualification with an impressive 100% record.

Rooney’s performances with his club Manchester United have been a completely different story as he has struggled scoring consistent goals with the Premier League club and he simply hasn’t been performing like he used to display in his previous seasons at Old Trafford. Rooney has struggled so much in scoring goals for Manchester United that Anthony Martial and Juan Mata have scored more goals for the English club in this current season so far.

Nonetheless, even with his underwhelming performances at club level, Rooney was still voted as the best English player of 2015 and has caught the attention of the Chinese club Shanghai SIPG who are believed to be preparing an offer in the region of $34 million in order to lure him away from Manchester United.

Shanghai SIPG is currently being guided by the former coach of England Sven-Göran Eriksson and the Swedish coach wants to get back together and work alongside Wayne Rooney once again.

Eriksson is hoping he can bring Rooney to Shanghai SIPG and appoint him with the task of spearheading his offensive lines but the Englishman has stated that he does not have any plans of leaving Old Trafford anytime soon, however, if Manchester United receive an astronomically high offer for the veteran player, it might be enough for Shanghai SIPG to secure the services of Wayne Rooney and lure him to Asia.
